SOLUTIONS:

1.Answer: 3. All, 1, 2 and 3
Explanation:
From (All, 1, 2 and 3)
Let the speed of car A and Car B be 7x km/h and 4x km/h respectively.
Difference between speed = 7x-4x = 3x
3x= 60km/h
x = 20km/h
4x = 4*20 = 80
7x = 7*20 = 140
Let the distance be D km
D/80 – D/140 = 3
D (60/80*140) = 3
D = (3*80*140/60)
D = 560 km/h

2.Answer: 2. Only 1 and 3.
Explanation:
From 1
(P*R*5)/100 = 8000
P*R = 160000
From 2
P + PRT/100 = 96000
From 3
(PR2/1002) = 160
Hence, by combining 1 and 3 rate of interest can be obtained (P and R can be obtained)

3.Answer: 2. Only 1 and 3
Explanation:
From 1 and 3
Let the of player appeared for physical test in senior team = 4x and number of player who failed the physical test in senior team = x
Number of player who passed the physical test in senior team = 4x-x = 3x
3x = 36
x = 12
The number of player who failed the physical test in senior team = x = 12

4.Answer: 2. 1 and 2 together or 1 and 3 together.
Explanation:
From 1:
If smaller number is x, greater number is x+18
Target – To find the value of x
Form 1 and 2
(9/10)*x = (6/10)*(x+18)
9x = 6x + 6*18
x = 36
From 1 and 3
{(1/3)*x} : {(1/4)*(x+18)} = 1:3
{4x: 3*(x+18)} = 1:3
4x: (x+18) = 1:1
x = 6

5.Answer: 1. 1 and 2 together or 2 and 3 together.
Explanation:
From 1 and 2
Let the length of rectangle is 5x and breadth of rectangle is 3x
2*(5x+3x) = 400
8x = 200
x = 25
length of rectangle = 5*25 = 125
breadth of rectangle = 3*25 = 75
radius of circle = (1/5)*125 = 25
Hence, Area of circle can be obtained.
From 2 and 3
Let the length is 3x and breadth is 2x
2*(3x+2x) = 400
5x = 200
x = 40
length of rectangle = 3*40 = 120
Breadth of rectangle = 2*40 = 80
Radius of circle = (1/5)*120 = 24
Hence, Area of circle can be obtained.

Direction (6-10) :

6) Answer: c)

Number of males in city B = 7/13 x 5200 = 2800

Number of females in city B = 6/13 x 5200 = 2400

Total number of literates in city B = 85/100 x 5200 = 4420

Literate males in city B = 4/7 x 2800 = 1600

Literate females in city B = 2400 – 1600 = 800

Percentage of literate females = 800/2400 x 100 = 33.33%

7) Answer: c)

Illiterate population of city D = (100 – 75)/100 x 4800

= 25/100 x 4800

= 1200

Number of illiterate females = 30/100 x 1200 = 360

Number of illiterate males = 1200 – 360 = 840

Number of males in city D = 7/12 x 4800 = 2800

Number of literate males = 2800 – 840 = 1960

Percentage of literate males = 1960/2800 x 100

= 70%

8) Answer: b)

Number of males in city A = 5/9 x 4500 = 2500

Number of illiterates in city C = (100 – 60)/100 x 6400

= 40/100 x 6400

= 2560

Required ratio = 2500: 2560 = 125: 128

9) Answer: d)

Number of literates in city A = 56/100 x 4500 = 2520

Number of literates in city B = 85/100 x 5200 = 4420

Number of literates in city C = 60/100 x 6400 = 3840

Number of literates in city D = 75/100 x 4800 = 3600

Number of literates in city E = 70/100 x 5600 = 3920

Number of literates in city F = 90/100 x 6000 = 5400

Required sum = 2520 + 4420 + 3840 + 3600 + 3920 + 5400 = 23700

10) Answer: a)

Total number of males in all the cities = 5/9 x 4500 + 7/13 x 5200 + 5/8 x 6400 + 7/12 x 4800 + 4/7 x 5600 + 3/5 x 6000

= 2500 + 2800 + 4000 + 2800 + 3200 + 3600

= 18900

Total number of females in all the cities = 4/9 x 4500 + 6/13 x 5200 + 3/8 x 6400 + 5/12 x 4800 + 3/7 x 5600 + 2/5 x 6000

= 2000 + 2400 + 2400 + 2000 + 2400 + 2400

= 13600

11.Consider the proportion of coconut oil
In Mixture 1 coconut oil is 4/7th of the entire mixture
In Mixture 2 coconut oil is th 1/6of the entire mixture
In Final Mixture coconut oil is 3/10th of the entire mixture
Let the quantity of Mixture 2 required be Y.

 12.Let their initial investments per month be x, 2x and 4x respectively
Therefore, of their investments during the first 6 months = x: 2x: 4x
Total investment for 6 months will be 6x, 12x, 24x respectively
For the next 6 months,
Total investment of Amit = (3x/2) x 6 = 9x
Total investment of Bharat = 6x x 6 = 36x
Total investment of Chirag = 3x x 6 = 18x
Therefore, at the end of the year,
Total investment of Amit = 15x
Total investment of Bharat = 48x
Total investment of Chirag = 42x
Ratio of their profits will be the same as ratio of their total investments,
Therefore,
Ratio of their profits = 15x: 48x: 42x = 5: 16: 14
So option (a) is the correct answer.

13.Let CP of A = Rs. 100x, then CP of B = Rs. (100x + 300), then
SP of A = 100x + 20% of 100x = 120x
SP of B = (100x + 300) - 20% of (100x + 300) = 80x + 240
According to the question,
120x/15 = (80x + 240)/16
⇒ 8x = 5x + 15
⇒ x = 5
∴ CP of B = Rs. 500 + 300 = Rs. 800
Since B is sold at 20% profit, then the SP of B = 120% of 800 = Rs.960

14.

15.Let students got a mean score of x marks.
Remaining students percentage is 100% - 20% - 30% = 50%
Hence 20% of 90 + 30% of 20 + 50% of x = 54
18 + 6 + 50x/100 = 54
50x/100 = 54 - 24= 30
x = 30 x 2 = 60 marks

16.Let the length of the train A be x and speed be y
40= (x + x) / y
40y= 2x
x= 20y
Now,
100= (1320+x) / y
100y= 1320 + x
Putting the value of x
100y= 1320+ 20y
80y= 1320
y= 16.5m/s
x= 16.5×20= 330 m

17.Let
The original speed be u km/h
Time taken by him between point P and office at original speed be t hours
Distance between point P and office be d km

P is the point where Ramesh reached after 45 minutes.

t = ¼ hours = 15 minutes

Original time = 45 + 15 = 60 minutes = 1 hour

18.

19.

20.Total ages of 6 family members 3 years ago
= 6 × 40= 240 years
Total ages of the family at present including daughter
= 240+18= 258
Total ages of the family including daughter- in-law
= 42 × 6
= 252 years
So,
Required difference= 258-252= 6 years.
