SOLUTIONS

1.Let after travelling "t" hr the two bus met each other.
If the bus starting from P have travelled for timehr then bus starting from Q will have travelled for
(t + 24/60) hr
and so the equation
(80 xt) + 95 x (t + 24/60) = 250
80t + 95t = 250 - 38
175t = 212
t = 212/175 hr
Distance from P when the two bus will meet
= (average speed of bus from P to Q) x ( time "t" for which it travelled)
= 80 * 212/175 km = 97 km (approx)
Distance from Q when they meet = 250 km - 97 km = 153 km

2.Let the amount invested in scheme A is 2 x 50 = 100, the amount invested in scheme B is 5 x 50 = 250 Interest from scheme A = 100*(1 + 30/100)²= 169 - 100 = Rs.69
Interest from scheme B = 250 x 15% x 2 = Rs.75
Difference between interest = 75 - 69 = Rs.6
If the difference is Rs.6. Investment in scheme B = Rs 250 so the difference is Rs. 1080
investment in scheme B = Rs. 250/6 x 1080 = Rs. 45000

3.Let the CP = 4x then, SP = 5x
Let MP = 2y then SP = 3y = 5x
y = 5x/3
The ratio of CP: SP: MP = 4x: 5x:2 x 5x/3 = 12:15:10
When MP = 10x
then profit = 15x - 12x = 3x
When MP = 10 x 4 = Rs. 40
Then Profit = 4 x 3 = Rs. 12
The total profit by selling 44 such article = Rs. 44 x 12 = Rs. 528

4.Cost of 12 pen = 12x 8= R$ 96
Cost of 6 packet of wax colour= 6 x 20-12
Cost of 7 erasers= 7 X 5= Rs35
Cost of S calculators- 5 x 130= 650
Cost price of 5 pencil box = 5x (20 + 20 + 5 = 5 x 45= 225
Total cost paid by Radha = Rs 196 +120 + 35 +6502251 = Rs 1126

5.Number of questions attempted correctly = (60% of 40 + 40% of 50 + 60% of 35)
= (24 +20 +21) = 65
Questions to be answered correctly for 60% grade= 60% of 125 = 75
So, Required number of questions=(75-65) = 10

6.

7.
Total marked price of three books = Rs. 600
Their SP = Rs. 540
Discount = 600 - 540 = Rs. 60
If the rate of discount be x% then,
=>( 600 X x)/100=60
= >x =( 60 x 100)600
=> X= 10%
