SOLUTIONS:

1.Ans: C
Sol:
Sum of present age of Harish and nithish = 24*2 +6 = 54
Present Age of Kajol = 84-54 = 30 years
Present Age of Harish = (54/9) * 5 = 30 years
Sum ages of kajol and Harish, 5 years ago = 25+25 = 50 years.

2.Ans: B
Sol:
A: B: C = (25000*6 +20000*6): (35000 *6): (40000*3)
= 270000:210000:120000 =27:21:12 = 9:7:4
Profit earned by B = (7500/20) * 7 = RS. 2625

3. Ans: A
Sol:
total face card = 12, in that 6 is red and 6 is black = 6C2 + (6C1 * 6C1) =
= 15 +36 = 51
Total probability = 52C2 = 26*51
Possible probability = 51/ 26*51 = 1/26.

4.Ans: D
Sol:
Let us assume the original c.p of an article = X
Selling Price = X+ (30/100) X=1.3X
Successive discount = 1.3X * (90/100) * (85/100) = 0.9945 X
0.9945X = 1989
X = 2000
Selling price = 115/100 * c.p = 115/100 * 2000 =2300.

5. Ans: A
Sol:
A = 12 days; B= 20days
Total Work = 60w
one day work
A=5 w/d
B= 3 w/d
total one day work = 8 w/d
5 days = 8*5 = 40w
Remaining Work = 20w
20w=5d
4 works = 1day
60w =?
c = 15 days
Total work can be done by all together
in (total one day work) = 5+3 +4 =12 work/ days
total days taken = 60/12 = 5days.

6. Ans: B
Sol:
Lets the length of ground 2 is X
Ground 1 = 3/5 X
speed of B to A = 3x/5 /36: x7/90 = 3x/180: x/90 =x/60: x/90
=90:60 = 3:2

7.Ans :B
sol:
total number of possibilities = 26 =64
Number of tails and head can be taken as (6,0), (5,1), (4,2) (3,3) respectively
N (E) = 6C6 +6C5+6C4+6C3 =1+6 +15+20 = 42
P (E) = 42/64 =21/32

8.AnsC
Sol:
difference in interest = 1050-1000 = 25
interest in SI for one year = 1000/2 =500
Interest percentage rate = 500/25 = 20%
1500 = (2*20*x) /100
X= Rs.3750

9.Ans: B
sol:
remaining milk =120 liters
milk: Water = 5: 3 = 75:45
After adding 40 liters of pure milk = 115:45 =23:9

Explanation:
Speed of downstream = 20/x
Speed of upstream = 12/x
120/(20/x) + 120/(12/x) = 8
6x + 10x = 8
16x = 8
X = 1/2
So, Speed of downstream = 40 km/hr, Speed of upstream = 24 km/hr.
Rate of the stream = ½*(Speed of downstream - Speed of upstream)
= > ½*(40 - 24)
= > 1/2 * 16 = 8 km/hr

Explanation:
Let the total marks be x,
Here passing mark is equal. So,
42 % of total marks + 27 = 57 % of total marks – 18
27 + 18 = (57 % - 42 %) of total marks
45 = 15 % of total marks
(15/100)*x = 45
X = 45*(100/15) = 300
Pass mark = (42/100)*300 + 27 = 126 + 27 = 153
Pass % = (153/300)*100 = 51 %

Explanation:
Let the cost price be Rs. X,
X*(87/100) + 84 = x*(115/100)
(115x/100) – (87x/100) = 84
28x/100 = 84
X = 84*(100/28)
X = 300
Cost price = Rs. 300
Selling price = 300*(120/100) = Rs. 360

Explanation:
Total sum = X = A + B + C
A= (2/5)*X + 120
B = X/4 - 190
C = 420
Total sum(X) = (2X/5) + 120 + (X/4) - 190 + 420
X= (8X + 5X)/20 + 350
X – (13x/20) = 350
7x/20 = 350
X = 1000
65 % of the total sum
= > 1000*(65/100) = Rs. 650

Explanation:
A can do the work in,
= > (1/3)*work = 5
= > Whole work = 15 days
B can do the work in,
= > (2/5)*work = 10
= > Whole work = 25 days
(A + B)’s one day work = (1/15) + (1/25) = 40/(15*25) = 8/75
(A + B) can do the work in, 75/8 = 9 3/8 days
